What a wonderful week! Chris' family set sail for a Disney Cruise to celebrate his parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Everyone raves about these cruises and we now join the throng of supporters. The ship was very nice, the entertainment was spectacular and the kids-only programs were so well thought out. Luke couldn't wait to go back to the Oceaneer Club every chance he could that was exclusively for children 3-4 years old. There he got to meet an Army-guy (Corporal Green) from Toy Story. A very big deal! I really liked how you rotated to a different restaurant each night. Animator's Palate was my favorite as during the night the black and white room magically turned full color.
Luke also loved seeing all the characters. He says Chip and Dale are his favorites. The pirate night with fireworks was a hit too.
I have to admit I got a little choked up when we attended a show the kids put on with Mickey and Minnie. Brief, Luke was in the front row, jumping around and dancing on queue!
Following the 3 night cruise, we extended our stay to include a couple days at the Disney Resort in Orlando. We had a full day at Magic Kingdom, spectacular time especially because it was Labor Day and crowds were super light. We walked on most rides. Luke's height was a plus. At 40" there wasn't anything he couldn't do (Space Mountain was closed for repair.) He and Chris loved Splash Mountain, getting soaked the 4 times they rode it.
It might be obvious, we decided to leave Mitchell at home. Tough call, but once we saw our stateroom on the cruise, we knew it was the right decision. It would have been difficult to maneuver there. Frankly, it was also nice to give all of us, including Luke, a bit of a break. We are so lucky that Team Browning stepped up to help watch Mitchell while we were away. Thanks for that gift of time!
